#53/365 The Evil in me
Ingo Meckmann is living in Switzerland with his family and works as an IT Manager. He is not a professional photographer but very passionate about his photography and despite having a full-time job, a lovely wife and 3 boys he spends as much time as possible with his photography.

A little photographic history:

Ingo bought his first camera in 1991 – the Canon EOS Rebel (Canon EOS 1000 in Europe). He entered the Digital world in 2001 (after his first son was born) with the glorious Minolta Dimage 7 – a 5.2 Megapixel camera. It was amazing for its time and he produced his Biggest Print Ever with that Minolta. In 2005 he switched back to Canon and purchased the Digital Rebel XT (EOS 350D in Europe) shooting with the kit-lens and an old 70-300 f/3.5-5.6 which he bought in the early 90′s for the analog SLR – this lens was also the reason why he decided for Canon and not Nikon. In 2007 Ingo bought his first real lens, the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 which really pulled him in.

He hasn’t started shooting regularly until 2008 when he moved with his family to Stamford, CT. NYC was very close-by and he never went there without his DSLR. He bought the Canon 5D Mark II in December 2008 and has shot nearly 100,000 pictures since then. They moved back to Switzerland in Summer 2009 which didn’t stop him to follow his passion.

On a beautiful winter morning in December 2010 after a snow-storm has passed, he couldn’t just drive by that wonderful, magical light that was happening over the Lake of Zug and shot following picture that he uploaded to the National Geographic web-site and forgot about it. It seems they liked it and named it “Photo of the Day” on January 8, 2011 and featured it as one of the 10 best pictures for that month.

Most of Ingo’s pictures are landscapes but he also very much enjoys photographing people. He has shot a few assignment and really enjoys the interaction with subjects that are less static than landscapes.
