If you are blinded by colors, get rid of them

I know I’m living in a very picturesque region and I probably do not appreciate it enough but every time I see this view I get reminded of that fact. I’m literally living just around 4 miles away from where I shot this picture.

The tallest mountain in the background is Mount Pilatus and the lake right below it is Lake Lucerne.

Shooting in my back yard - well, kind of

This is the view from top of Rigi Scheidegg, a mountain right next to the village I live. You can actually see part of my home-town in the lower left corner of the picture.

This is not an HDR picture – it’s a single exposure image with no tone-mapping processing at all. This was possible as I shot this quite early in the day On December 26, 2009 at around 10am. I added a graduated filter in Lightroom to darken the sky and boosted the contrast using a black&white layer in Photoshop by using an overlay blending mode. Finally some minor tweaking in Lightroom by desaturating the image a tad.

#45/365 Strike!

I was planning again to shoot star trails tonight but I changed plans… :)

I shot this picture just about 30 minutes later than yesterday’s shot but it’s quite different – isn’t it?

#39/365 Fleeing the Heat

The weather forecast announced a very hot day with temperatures around 35C or 95F so we went up to the mountains.

#13/365 Sparkles of Light

Light was horrible but I knew I wouldn’t have time to shoot later in the day so I worked with what I got -> horrible light.

Due to the fact that the sun was still quite high I decided to include some sun-flares that should hit the rock near the water.
